The Canefield Airport ( IATA code DCF , ICAO code TDCF ) is one of two airports in the Caribbean island nation of Dominica . It is about 2 km north of Roseau .
At less than 1000 meters, the airport's runway is too short for modern jets and, due to its location, can hardly be extended. The airport has no international approval and no instrument landing system and is therefore only served by government or private planes during the day and when visibility is good. With the expansion of Douglas-Charles Airport , which is about 30 kilometers away on the northeast coast of the island and has had an instrument landing system since the end of 2010, the importance of Canefield Airport has declined significantly.
