Canopy Growth Corporation (formerly Tweed Marijuana Inc ) is a Canadian company in the industry medical cannabis from Smiths Falls , Ontario . Judging by the market capitalization Canopy Growth is the largest company in the industry. The company was founded by Bruce Linton in 2014 as Tweed Marijuana Inc. and was renamed in 2015. In December 2018, Canopy Growth bought the Tuttlingen-based vaporizer manufacturer Storz & Bickel for 145 million euros. In May 2019, Canopy Growth took over the cannabinoid division of Bionorica C3 for 225.9 million euros (Cannabinoid Compound Company ) with locations in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz and Frankfurt am Main .

Canopy Growth has a major shareholder, Constellation Brands , who holds 38% of the shares. In addition to Canopy Growth, Constellation Brands owns numerous alcoholic beverage brands and plans to develop cannabis-flavored beverages with Canopy Growth.
