Canray Fontenot

Canray Fontenot (born October 16, 1922 in L'anse Aux Vachesla, Louisiana , † July 29, 1995 in Welsh , Louisiana) was an American Cajun musician . He has been called the last of the great Creole cajun fiddlers . His best-known songs include Joe Pitre a Deux Femmes , Les Barres de la Prison and Bonsou Moreau .

Fontenot, who grew up on a farm, had musical parents who both played the accordion. His father Adam Fontenot enjoyed some popularity in southwest Louisiana. Canray later made recordings of almost all of his father's songs. He also became known as a partner of accordionist Bois Sec Ardoin .
