Cantus figuratus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cantus figuratus (also cantus figuralis , Latin cantus figurativus ) has been a rhythmically differentiated chant since the 15th century , for the written fixation of which mensural notation was required, in contrast to the cantus planus , which largely consisted of notes of the same length. The term took the place of the older term Cantus mensuratus .
