Caoilinn Hughes (born 1985 in Galway ) is an Irish writer .

Life

After studying at Queen's University of Belfast , Hughes earned a PhD in English Literature from Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, where he worked for Google . Her collection of poems, Gathering Evidence , published in 2014, won the Irish Times' Shine / Strong Award in 2015, after a selection had already received the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award in 2012 . In 2018 she published her debut novel Orchid & the Wasp (German: Orchidee & Wespe). Orchid & the Wasp was nominated for the Hearst Big Book Award 2019. In 2019 Hughes was awarded the Collyer Bristow Prize.
