Cape St George Lighthouse was in operation as a lighthouse from 1860 to 1899. It is a tower on Jervis Bay in the Jervis Bay Territory in Australia .

When the sandstone lighthouse was completed and sending light signals from its position, it was determined that it was not optimally positioned and that its light could not be seen from the north. In doing so, he did not give sufficient warning of the dangerous reefs off the coast. Nevertheless, it remained in operation until 1896 and then fell victim to destruction.

It was probably destroyed because it was incorrectly positioned or because there were irritations when sighting two lighthouses, including the Point Perpendicular lighthouse on the other side , from the sea side , or because the Royal Australian Navy was firing at practice .
