The Capo Vaticano is a cape located on a rocky promontory in Calabria in the municipality of Ricadi .

From the cape there is a wide view to the Strait of Messina (Stretto di Messina) and all the Aeolian Islands ( Stromboli , Vulcano , Lipari , Salina , Filicudi , Alicudi and Panarea ). When the visibility is good, you can see the high electricity pillars, through which Sicily was once supplied with electricity above ground from Calabria.

The place has nothing to do with the Vatican. The name refers to an oracle that was visited by seafarers during times of colonization by Greeks. The original name Capo dei Vaticinii (German: Cape of Prophecies) comes from this historical site . At the actual cape the lighthouse is in the cordoned off area. A parking lot and a tourist path as well as a small restaurant complete the tourist place.
