Carato
The carato was an Italian measure of weight and corresponded to the measure of carat .
The jewel weight was different from the gold and silver weight. A division was made into halves, quarters, eighths and sixteenths. In Genoa, for example, 8 Ottavas were equal to 1 Carato.
