The carbazole alkaloids are natural substances of the indole alkaloid type, which can be derived from carbazole .

Occurrence

Carbazole alkaloids with intact benzene rings are rare. Olivacin was found in the bark of Aspidosperma olivaceum and ellipticin in Ochrosia elliptica . Some carbazole alkaloids, particularly Glybomin B, have been isolated from Glycosmis pentaphylla .

Representative

The representatives include a. Glycozolin , Olivacin and ellipticine and continue Glybomin B .

properties

Carbazole alkaloids have cytotoxic and antifungal properties. Furthermore, they have a damaging effect on HIV viruses and tumor cells. Olivacin has fluorescent properties.
