Cardanus is an impact crater on the westernmost edge of the front of the moon , so if at all it is only visible from Earth in a strongly distorted manner. It is located south of the Krafft crater in the plain of Oceanus Procellarum . The Catena Krafft crater chain runs between Cardanus and Krafft . Cardanus has a relatively sharp, somewhat irregular crater rim with a multi-terraced inner wall.

The moon groove Rima Cardanus runs south of Cardanus in an east-west direction .
