Carena (company)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carena was a camera manufacturer from Liechtenstein .

The company based in Mauren produced handy film cameras in the 1950s . Production of the Geva-8-Carèna began under Jacques Broïdo. In 1953 this camera came on the market with the viewfinder opening at the push of a button. In 1957 the Carène 2 appeared, which was produced until 1960. With the introduction of the Super 8 films in cassettes from around 1965, the decline of the Carena company began. The now over-indebted Contina AG had to stop camera production, after which it was taken over by Hilti AG . In the early 1970s, Carena SA filed for bankruptcy.

Interdiscount AG , originally from Switzerland , secured the brand name and used it for cameras and film cameras that it bought in the Far East, for example the Carena Super-Zoom 105 zoom camera .
