history

Carena CX 300 sold by Interdiscount or Photo Porst (produced by Cosina, Japan)

Interdiscount Holding AG was founded in 1970 by merging the companies Photo Traber AG, Photo Max AG, Photo von Känel AG, Lichtsteiner Discount AG, Interdiscount AG and Color Labor AG. In the 1970s, Interdiscount bought the brand name Carena and has been selling photo and film cameras under this name ever since.

Radio Iseli AG was taken over in 1974 with five sales outlets. Interdiscount took a stake in Photo Ruckli AG with 9 sales outlets. Musique et Vision AG Geneva was taken over. The holding company took a 20% stake in Grammo Studio AG Zurich.

The Burkhard Strittmatter Group was taken over in 1985 with 24 branches and 7 service workshops. In Austria, the company acquired a stake in H. Niedermeyer GmbH in Vienna in 1989 with 90 branches. In 1991, Interdiscount took over 85 sales outlets from NASA and transferred them to Interdiscount France with its headquarters in Paris. In 1992 the holding company signed a cooperation agreement with Radio TV Steiner AG. The majority of Photo Porst's shares were taken over in 1982.

The company has been part of the Swiss Coop since 1996 . In mid-2002 the activities of Interdiscount AG were transferred to Coop and the stock corporation was liquidated. Interdiscount has since been legally dependent, and Coop continues to use the protected designation for the independent presence of the electronics retail chain. In 2003 almost all branches were rebuilt.

In May 2018 , a fully automated small parts warehouse was opened in Jegenstorf together with the sister company Microspot .

Intertronic
