Lev Isaakowitsch Lemke

Lev Isaakowitsch Lemke ( Russian Лев Исаакович Лемке ; born August 25, 1931 , † August 4, 1996 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Soviet or Russian theater and cinema actor, theater director and voice actor.

Life

Lew Lemke was born into a family of Jewish faith. In 1959 he graduated from the drama school in Dnepropetrovsk and performed there for a year. Then he worked at the New Theater of Miniatures in Moscow , where he mainly played small roles. In 1962, the dark-haired mime moved to Leningrad and worked at the Leningrad Comedy Theater, where he worked until his death and was one of the leading figures in the acting troupe there. From 1987 to 1990 he also appeared at the Leningrad State Theater of the Lenin Komsomol. At his place of work in today's St. Petersburg, Lemke also staged several pieces himself until his death, including arrangements of works by Hans Christian Andersen .

From 1962 he got his first film roles, but his breakthrough only came in the 1970s and 1980s. Lemke appeared in both cinema and television productions and served various genres such as the fairy tale film (Город мастеров, Gorod masterow , 1965), the literary film adaptation (12 стульев, 12 stuljew , 1966), the comedy ( Нокивие Дмоникинija Doni i Mikki , 1973) the war film (Блокада, Blokada , 1974/77) or the detective film (Гений, Genii , 1991). In Esperanza (1988) and Враг народа - Бухарин ( Wrag naroda - Bukharin , 1990) he portrayed Leon Trotsky , in Анекдоты ( Anekdoty , 1990) he gave a psychiatric patient who thinks he is Stalin . Lemke played his last leading role in front of the camera in the television film Призраки ( Prisraki , 1991).

From the mid-1960s onwards, Lemke also appeared occasionally as a voice actor, both for animation films and for Russian-language versions of foreign works such as Le Magnifique - I Am the Greatest (1973), in which he intoned Jean Lefebvre's role, and The Verdict - The Truth and nothing but the truth (1982).

Since March 27, 1974, he carried the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR .

After the collapse of the Soviet Union , Lew Lemke appeared only rarely. In addition to his acting and directing activities at the theater, he gave poetic evenings and took part in outdoor concerts.

Lemke died three weeks before his 65th birthday in Saint Petersburg and was buried in the Serafimovskoye cemetery. He left behind his wife Valentina Vladimirovna Drozdovskaya, who was five years his junior and who was a news anchor for Leningrad - Channel 5 for a long time . She died in 1998.
