Carillon in the Olympic Park

The carillon in the Munich Olympic Park was built for the 1972 Summer Olympics on Coubertinplatz , the central square in the Olympic Park . It was manufactured by the Dutch bell foundry Eijsbouts and has a range of 50 bells (originally 49 bells; 1991 retrofitting of a C sharp bell).

This carillon has been dismantled since November 2007 due to restructuring measures in the Olympic Park.

In 1972 this was the second carillon in Bavaria, after only the Aschaffenburg Johannisburg Palace owned a carillon at that time . Currently (as of 2012) there are five functional carillons in Bavaria: in addition to the aforementioned instrument in Aschaffenburg, they also house the Neubaukirche in Würzburg (since 2005), the Church of St. Martin in Illertissen (since 2006), the Weilbach market in the Miltenberg district (since 2006 ) and the Mariahilfkirche in Munich (since 2012) a carillon.
