In Switzerland
The Charity Sisters are Catholic nuns who are active in Charity . There are two independent congregations of them:
- Motherhouse St. Gallen: This congregation, which emerged in 1906 from the regulated third order of St. Dominic , is active in child and youth work.
- Motherhouse Zurich: The congregation founded in 1922 by several young women works in the metropolitan apostolate.
In France
The religious community in which Bernadette Soubirous entered in 1866 at the age of 22 is referred to as the Caritas Sisters of Nevers ( Sœurs de la Charité de Nevers ) . It has existed since 1680.
In Germany
In Germany, the Caritas Sisters were free, unrelated Catholic nurses who joined together in 1937 to form the Reich Association of Free Caritas Sisters . The first director was Adelheid Testa (* 1904 in Constantinople , † February 1945 in a bomb attack on Freiburg im Breisgau ). This community has meanwhile been transferred to the Caritas Association for Nursing and Social Professions , which also includes men in nursing and social professions.
