Carl August Andrée

Carl August Andrée , lat. Carolus Augustus Andrée , (* 1762 in Dresden ; † 1809 ibid) was a German physician and dental surgeon.

Life

Andrée was born in Dresden as the son of the electoral body surgeon and Carl August Andrée. He learned dental surgery for four years with court surgeon Naumann and attended lectures at the medical and surgical college in Dresden. He then worked as a surgeon in the artillery .

Andrée studied healing arts in Leipzig from 1782 to 1785 and completed his studies with a baccalaureate. He returned to Dresden, where he was initially a prosector of the surgeon school and from 1786 also taught. Andrée took on "the first public teaching assignment for dental surgery in Germany". He received his doctorate in Leipzig in 1790 with the thesis Prima puerorum dentitione . Andrée remained a lecturer in dental surgery until his death in 1809.

In 1799 Andrée lived as a "body tooth surgeon" on Kleine Brüdergasse 304. His son Karl Maximilian Andrée , born in 1781, became known as a gynecologist .
