Carl Byron

Carl Byron (* in Beirut ) is a Lebanese-American composer and keyboardist.

The son of a Lebanese woman and a US diplomat grew up in Southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Washington. He studied music at California State University with Aurelio de la Vega and was composer in residence at the Elkhorn Music Festival and the Sun Valley Summer Symphony . His compositional work ranges from symphonic works and chamber music to electro-acoustic music and world music. He composed a string quartet for the Elkhorn Music Festival and the Musica Festiva for the Sun Valley Summer Symphony . The Arabasque , which the trio premiered in Carnegie Hall , was written for the California Trio , and the piece Sola for the violinist Karen Elaine . He composed the song cycle Fragments based on poems by Rainer Maria Rilke for the soprano Violetta Polichtchouk. Other works are Qasida and the Haiku Variations for piano and Qantara for large orchestra.

Byron continued to work as musical director, arranger and composer for various ballet and music theater productions. For his own group Hounds he plays the Hammond organ and works as a composer. As a keyboard player he performed with numerous musicians.
