Carl Heinrich Zöllner

Carl Heinrich Zöllner (born May 5, 1792 in Oels , Silesia , † July 2, 1836 in Wandsbek ) was a German pianist, organist and composer .

Life

Zöllner's father was an organist at the castle church in Oels and gave his son organ lessons at an early age. After further training with Friedrich Wilhelm Berner in Breslau and working as a music teacher in Opole , Carl Heinrich Zöllner decided to pursue a career as a traveling pianist, organist and composer, which took him to many European cities (including Warsaw, London, Leipzig, Hamburg and Copenhagen ) led. In particular, his organ playing was praised by the critics and celebrated by the audience. In 1832 Zöllner settled in Hamburg, where he made his last public appearance on September 22nd, 1835.

Works

Few of Zöllner's works are still known today. On March 27, 1826, Zöllner's opera was premiered in five acts in the Theater an der Wien by Kunz von Kauffungen . With Variations pour l'Orgue sur le Theme God save the King , Zöllner's organ work has also been preserved.
