Carl Helbling (Germanist)
Carl Helbling (born December 16, 1897 in Rapperswil (SG) ; † July 17, 1966 in Zurich ) was a Swiss German scholar .
Life
After receiving his doctorate in 1922, he was initially a high school teacher and later an associate professor at the ETH Zurich . He wrote various writings on German and Swiss literature and culture. He made great contributions as the editor of the works and letters of the Complete Works of Gottfried Keller and his Collected Letters (5 volumes, 1950–54).
