Carl Johann I. Elbers

Carl Johann Elbers (referred to as I. to distinguish himself from his son and grandson of the same name) (* July 30, 1768 in Hagen ; † August 5, 1845 there ) was a German entrepreneur and politician.

Elbers was an entrepreneur and operator of the Elberschen Hammerwerke in the Öge near Hagen. One of his sons continued to run the company, another son, Carl Johann II. Elbers (1795–1853), bought a dyer's business in 1822 and developed it into the Elbers textile factory . In 1843 Elbers was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Westphalia for the state of the towns in the Mark constituency for the towns of Hagen, Altena and Schwelm .
