history

The 25-year-old bookseller Karl Link founded the publishing house in Kronach in 1884. Initially, the customers were teachers and mayors. In 1916 a building at Kolpingstrasse 12 was acquired and a printing plant was set up. Shortly afterwards, Oskar Link, the founder's son, took over management of the company. In the war years, the printing of ration cards enabled the company to continue.

In 1958 Georgine Link and her grandson Folker O. Link-Wiesend took over the management of the publishing house. Major investments were made in the years of economic boom . The publishing house continued to expand its domicile and print shop on Kolpingstrasse. Machine typesetting technology found its way into the print shop. At the end of the 1960s, the publishing house developed into the largest Bavarian specialist publisher with a complete program for local authorities and school administration.

100 years after it was founded in 1984, the group of companies consisted of the bookstore, the publishing house and the printing house. At that time, the product range comprised over 3,000 different forms, offprints, specialist books , loose-leaf collections , office organization aids, specialist journals and seminars. In 1990 the book service and office market was founded. In 1997 Folker O. Link-Wiesend sold the publishing house and the printing company to Wolters Kluwer Deutschland GmbH. From 2001 the development to a knowledge and information service provider followed.
