Carl Neldel

Carl Neldel , also Karl Neldel ( 1863 in Hanover - 1911 in Cologne ) was a German opera singer ( bass ).

Life

Neldel began his career in Aachen in 1887, came to Magdeburg in 1888 and, after three years, in 1891 at the Stadttheater in Leipzig, where he stayed until 1900 and in that year joined the Association of the Riga City Theater. He made his debut there as "Mayor" in Tsar and Zimmermann and stayed there until 1903.

He then worked at the Stadttheater Mainz (1903–1904), the Stadttheater Bremen (1904–1908) and from 1908 until his unexpected death at the Cologne Opera House.

Neldel was a popular bass buffo with a pleasant voice and a humorous play. From the series of his achievements, the following should be mentioned: "Beckmesser", "Bacculus", "Daland", "St. Bris "," Mephisto "etc.
