Carl Roys

Carl Roys , also known as Karl Roy and Carl Roy (born October 30, 1884 in Gams , Canton St. Gallen , Switzerland ; † in the 20th century) was a Swiss-German painter and film architect working in German film during the Second World War .

Life

Having lived in Germany since a young age, Roys received his training at the Academy and the University of Fine Arts. From 1915 to 1918 he served, meanwhile naturalized German, in the First World War . Back in civilian life, Roys began working as a theater painter in 1923.

He came to the film quite late. From 1939 to 1944, Roys designed the sets for a number of less important entertainment films, mostly in collaboration with various colleagues. Shortly before the end of the war, he disappeared from the public eye.
