Carl Wildt
Carl Wildt , also Karl , worked in Berlin from around 1830 to 1870 , was a German draftsman, engraver and lithographer .
Life
After studying at the Academy of Arts in Berlin, he attended the Academic Copper Engraving School of Prof. Ludwig Buchhorn in 1832 to become a copper engraver. As early as 1832 he had shown a copper engraving based on a drawing by Christian Haldenwang and two chalk drawings as the first samples of his skills at the art academy exhibition. He also took part in the Academy exhibitions in 1846 and 1860.
Wildt refined his skills over the years, which is why his chalk drawings are among the most beautiful of their kind. Most recently, however, he devoted himself almost exclusively to lithography, initially making the drawings himself based on the paintings of famous masters.
