Christian Haldenwang
Christian Haldenwang (born May 14, 1770 in Durlach , † June 27, 1831 in Rippoldsau ) was a German engraver .
Haldenwang visited the studio of the copper engraver Christian von Mechel in Basel , received a call from the Chalkographische Gesellschaft in Dessau in 1796 and in 1804 as court copper engraver in Karlsruhe .
As a landscape engraver, Haldenwang combined strength with grace and the free play of painting with the most delicate perfection. Main leaves from him are:
- The four landscapes after Claude Lorrain , called the times of day, in the Hermitage in Petersburg
- The landscapes after Claude and Ruisdael, for the Musée Napoléon
- The flight to Egypt after Elsheimer
- The Landscape with Diogenes after C. Poussin
- The waterfall to Ruisdael
