Carl von Kohlhaas

Carl von Kohlhaas (also Karl ) (born March 28, 1829 in Stuttgart ; † April 28, 1907 there ) was a Württemberg lawyer and member of the state parliament.

life and work

The son of the businessman and medical director Ludwig Kohlhaas attended high school in Stuttgart. From 1847 to 1850 he studied law in Tübingen . From 1847 he was a member of the Corps Suevia . In 1854 it began its professional career as a court actuary in Göppingen. In 1856 he was Secretary of State in the Ministry of Justice, in 1861 Chief Justice Assessor and in 1865 Chief Justice Council. In 1868 he was promoted to senior tribunal councilor and lecturer council. In 1871, 1874 and from 1876 to 1879 he was the Württemberg representative of the Federal Council. In 1877 he was appointed government commissioner for the parliamentary consultation of the draft laws on the introduction of the Reich justice legislation in Württemberg, from 1878 with the title director. In 1879 he became President of the Senate at the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court, and in 1886 its President. From 1879 to 1897 he was an extraordinary member of the Privy Council as a State Councilor .

politics

On June 17, 1890, Carl von Kohlhaas was appointed a lifelong member of the Württemberg Landtag , and in 1891 he joined the Landtag. He held this mandate until April 24, 1897, when he resigned for health reasons.

Honors

  • In 1872 he received the Knight's Cross Class with Crown of the Order of the Württemberg Crown , which with the personal title of nobility ( ennoblement ) was associated.
  • 1874 Commentary Cross Second Class of the Order of Frederick .
  • In 1879 Carl von Kohlhaas was awarded an honorary doctorate (Dr. jur. Hc) from the University of Tübingen.
  • 1883 Commentary Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown.
  • 1889 Commentary cross with star of the Order of the Württemberg Crown.
