Carla Stiebner

Carla Stiebner is a former German table tennis player . At the beginning of the 1960s she was one of the best players in the GDR and won the GDR championship once.

The first name is sometimes quoted with Karla .

Career

Stiebner played for the club SC Einheit Dresden , with whom she was GDR team champion three times in a row from 1961 to 1963. In 1963 she won the GDR championship in doubles with Ingrid Hollmann , and a year later she reached the final with Brigitte Lantzsch . In 1965 she took fifth place in the GDR rankings. In the same year she switched to SC Motor Jena .

In 1963 Stiebner was nominated for the world championship . Here she won the singles against Velta Adminis (Canada) and then lost to Laima Balaishite (URS). In doubles with Nakma Cruz D'Elia (Brazil) she finished in the last sixteen after several byes and a win over Baik Og Hi / Lim Re Sook (North Korea). Here was the end of the line against the Japanese Kazuko Ito / Noriko Yamanaka . In the mixed with Rudolf Lippert she was eliminated in the first round against Zhang Xielin / Cheng Min-chih (China). With the GDR women's team, she reached fifth place.
