Milan Cathedral, main facade - Carlo Buzzi project

Carlo Buzzi (* approx. 1585 in Varese ; † 1658 ), also Latinized as Butio , was an Italian architect and from 1638 master builder at the Milan Cathedral . As such, he proposed a return to the Gothic style for the completion of the unfinished main facade . In 1647 Buzzi worked out two projects, the first with two bell towers flanking the main facade, the second with pyramids instead of the towers. In 1651 the project with towers (facade, side view, floor plan) was published under the title Il Duomo di Milano by the publisher "nella stanpe [sic] dell'Agnelli" in Milan. In 1653, Buzzi presented his last project, which remained largely decisive until the facade was completed in 1803 under Napoleon Bonaparte .
