Carlos Bonnet

Carlos Bonnet (born October 29, 1892 in Villa de Cura , † January 16, 1983 in Caracas ) was a Venezuelan composer and conductor .

From 1903 Bonnet attended the Escuela Musical Militar Infantil directed by Arturo Delfín Francieri and rose there to the position of deputy headmaster with the rank of first lieutenant. As a military bandmaster, he led the La Banda de la Brigada Número Uno for several years and was then appointed director of the Escuela de Bandas Militares by President Isaías Medina Angarita , from which the trumpeter Pablo Antillano emerged .

Among other things, he won the competition for the selection of the Venezuelan Air Force's anthem and was awarded the Medalla de Instrucción Pública by the Ministry of Education . At the opening of the Caracas radio station, he led the orchestra of the first radio broadcast and performed his Marcha 1BC . As a composer he became known with songs like Quitapesares , La Partida , El trabadedos , Refranero , La tierra de mi Querer , Overellas de un Pampero , Negra La Quiero and El Curruchá .
