Carlos Pintado

Carlos Pintado Hernández (* 1974 in Pinar del Río ) is a Cuban - American poet, storyteller and journalist.

Life

In 1996 he graduated from the Pedagogical Institute of Pinar del Río with a degree in English language and literature . In 1997 he moved to the USA and settled in Miami .

In 2006 Carlos received the Spanish Premio Internacional de Poesía Sant Jordi for his book Autorretrato en azul .

His poems, stories and texts have been translated into English, German, Turkish, Italian and French and have appeared in various anthologies and magazines. a. Ante elespejo (Madrid, 2008), Adiós (Madrid, 2006), Aldabonazo en Trocadero 162 ( Ed.Aduana Vieja, Madrid, 2008), Una voz en elabismo (Peru, 2007, Colección de poesía Editorial Ego group, Inc, Miami) , Antologíade la poesía cubana del exilio (AduanaVieja, Spain, 2011). In 2010, the South Beach Music Ensemble performed the "Quintetosobre los Poemas de Carlos Pintado", a piano and string quintet, based on the poems of Carlos and implemented by the American composer Pamela Marshall in several US states . Carlos Pintados Rimas Tropicales were performed musically by Tania León .

Carlos Pintado also wrote the book “The exile experience: a journey to freedom”, a project by the Cuban music producer Emilio Estefan . He worked with the Cuban musicians Gema and Pavel and in 2009 there was a collaboration with the actor and sculptor Michel Hernandez on the project “The Invention of the senses” , a fusion of poetry and sculpture which is now also in the catalog “Espacio Abierto ” , a magazine about Spanish culture in Miami. He also worked on the Free Soul Dance Company project created by Belma Suazo and international actor Francisco Gattorno. Pintado also worked with Vogue magazine and is editor of La Zorra y El Cuervo magazine .
