Carlos Pizarro

Carlos Pizarro (born April 9, 1921 in San Juan , † July 2000 in New York City ) was a Puerto Rican singer.

Live and act

Pizarro began his musical career in Rafael Quiñones Vidal's television program Tribuna del arte , in which he received first prize in 1946. Success brought him an engagement at Luis Cruz y Sus Marianaxis , with whom he came to New York in 1947. He decided to stay in town and received support from Claudio Ferrer , Pedro Marcano, and other Puerto Rican musicians. First he appeared with a group as Carlos Pizarro y Sus Guitarras Tropicales and played several LPs with them.

In 1956 Pizarro founded an orchestra that bore his name. With this he recorded a number of albums and went on concert tours through Puerto Rico and the USA. In New York he made appearances at the Palladium Ballroom , the Tropicana Club , the Arcadia , the Club Caborrojeño , the Caravana Club , the Bronx Casino , the Park Plaza Ballroom and the Montecarlo Casino and was engaged in the Broadway Casino between 1962 and 1970 .
