Carlota Luisa de Godoy y Borbon
Carlota Luisa de Godoy y Borbón (born October 7, 1800 in Madrid , † May 13, 1886 in Paris ) was the only child of Manuel de Godoy and María Teresa de Borbón y Vallabriga . Her most important titles were those of a 16th Countess of Chinchón (since 1831), that of a 2nd Duchess of Sueca (since 1830) and that of the 2nd Margravine ( marquesa ) of Boadilla del Monte (since 1853).
biography
Since her mother cared little about her daughter because of her hatred of her unfaithful and unloved husband, Carlota Luisa spent the first years of her life at the court of King Charles IV of Spain in Madrid; this and his wife María Luisa were also their godparents. Almost nothing is known about her life after the abdication of Charles IV in 1808; In any case, the new King Ferdinand VII was a bitter opponent of Manuel Godoy and, subsequently, of his family as well. She received no permission to marry into a European ruling house - so in 1821 a marriage with the German-Italian Camilo Ruspoli von Khevenhüller-Metsch was agreed, which was concluded in Rome on November 8th. Camilo Ruspoli was in the service of the Pope as a dragoon officer , but after the wedding the titles of his wife also passed to him.
In 1829 - one year after the death of her mother - Ferdinand VII decreed that half of Manuel Godoy's confiscated property should be returned to his daughter Carlota Luisa. She also received - as the only niece - the inheritance of her aunt María Luisa de Borbón y Vallabriga, who died childless in 1846 .
Carlota Luisa de Godoy y Borbón died on May 13, 1886 in Paris at the age of 85.
