The Carlson Island (also Wilhelm Carlson Island ) is a 1.5 km long and rocky island of up to 300 m height off the east coast of the Trinity Peninsula at the northern end of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located in the Prince Gustav Canal at a distance of 5 km southeast of Pitt Point and 3 km west of Rink Point on James Ross Island .
The island was discovered during the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901–1903) led by Otto Nordenskjöld . He named it after the Swedish banker Wilhelm Carlson, one of the main donors of the research trip.
