The Prince Gustav Canal is a strait in the north of the Antarctic Peninsula that separates James Ross Island and Vega Island from the Trinity Peninsula .
The passage was discovered in October 1903 during the Swedish Antarctic Expedition under the direction of Otto Nordenskjöld . He named the canal after the then Swedish Crown Prince and later King Gustav V.
