The Hanusse Bay (formerly Hanusse Fjord ) is a large bay with roughly north-south orientation on the Loubet coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It lies between the northern sections of Adelaide Island and the Arrowsmith Peninsula . To the north it is connected to the Matha Strait and the Crystal Sound via the Buchanan Passage and the Isacke Passage around Liard Island . To the south exist over the Tickle Channel and the Gunnel Channelaround Hansen Island a connection to The Gullet .
It was discovered and first mapped during the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition under the direction of polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot . Charcot named it after Ferdinand Isidore Hanusse (1848–1921), director of the hydrographic service of the French Navy.
