The Bennett Islands are a group of islands in the Adelaide and Biscoe Islands archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula . They are located off the southwest coast of Liard Island in Hanusse Bay and extend in a south-westerly direction over a length of 10 km. From north to south, these include Gränicher Island , Pfaff Island , Mügge Island and Weertman Island .

The islands were sighted and sketched in February 1937 during the British Graham Land Expedition (1934–1937) led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1954 after Arthur George Bennett (1888-1954), British representative for whaling in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands and the South Orkney Islands between 1913 and 1927, and between 1924 and 1938 on behalf of the British government worked as a naturalist in the Falkland Islands .
