The Crystal Sound ( English for Kristallsund ) is a strait ( sound ) between the southern section of the Biscoe Islands and the west coast of Graham Land . The northern border of the bay runs between Cape Evensen and Cape Leblond , in the south it is bounded by Holdfast Point , Roux Island , Liard Island and the Sillard Islands .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the sound in 1960 based on the numerous geographic objects in the immediate vicinity, which are named after scientists who dealt with the structure of ice crystals.
