The Antarctic Sound ( English Antarctic Sound ) is a body of water that is about 48 kilometers long and between 11 and 19 kilometers wide. It separates the group of Joinville Islands from the northeastern end of the Antarctic Peninsula .
The sound was named by the Swedish Antarctic Expedition under Otto Nordenskjöld after the expedition ship, the Antarctic , which was the first ship that passed through it.
