The Sillard Islands are a group of icy islands in the Matha Strait west of the Antarctic Peninsula . They are located in front of Cape Mascart at the northeastern end of Adelaide Island .
They were discovered during the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition (1908-1910) led by Jean-Baptiste Charcot . They are named after the French engineer Jean Sillard, head of a company in Montevideo , Uruguay , the Charcots research vessel Pourquoi Pas? repaired.
