The Cape Mascart is a cape on the northernmost part of Adelaide Island west of the Antarctic Peninsula . According to the IHO delimitation, it is the northernmost and easternmost delimitation point of the Bellingshausen Sea . In addition, the cape marks the southern limit of the entrance to Matha Street .
It was discovered during the Fourth French Antarctic Expedition (1903-1905) under the direction of Jean-Baptiste Charcot . It is named after the French physicist Eleuthère Mascart (1837–1908), director of the Bureau Central Météorologique .
