Carluke is a Scottish city. It is located between Lanark and Wishaw in the South Lanarkshire region and has a population of 13,579. Due to a direct train connection to Glasgow , the city has developed into a commuter city in recent decades .
Carluke has a few small shops and supermarkets in the city center. The main shopping mall, Carluke High Street, has been turned back into a one-way street after being a pedestrian street for many years.
The city is the birthplace of three bearers of the Victoria Cross ( William Angus , Thomas Caldwell and Donald Cameron ) and General William Roy . Carluke is also known as the home of Scott's jam , the Renshaw Scott jam factory, which is the largest local employer.
The city has five elementary schools: Carluke Primary, High Mill Primary, Kirkton Primary, Crawfordyke Primary and St Athanasius Primary. The secondary Carluke High School was rebuilt on the previous location and reopened in 2007.
