Carmelita Namashulua

Carmelita Rita Namashulua , short Carmelita Namashulua, (born December 2, 1962 in Dar es Salaam , Tanzania ) is a Mozambican educator and politician ( FRELIMO ). Since January 2015 she has been Minister for Public Administration in the Nyusi cabinet .

Carmelita Namashulua was born on December 2, 1962 in the Tanzanian capital Dar es Salaam, where her parents stayed during the Mozambican struggle for independence. She received her primary school education in one of the FRELIMO camps on the Tanzanian-Mozambican border. She then attended secondary school in Ribaué .

In Maputo, Namashulua studied until 1994 at the Universidade Pedagógica in the field of educational psychology .

Professional career

From 1984 to 1998 Namashulua worked at the Escola Secundária Josina Machel (in Maputo) as a physics teacher and between 1998 and 2001 she was the pedagogical director of the secondary school. In addition to her work as a teacher, she also worked between 1994 and 2001 as the coordinator for the “Support for Vulnerable Women” ( Coordenadora de Programas de Apoio a Mulheres Vulneráveis ) in the President's office.

Between 2001 and 2005, Namashulua headed the Mozambican section of the NGO Terres de Hommes .

Political career

For Guebuza's second cabinet , Namashulua was appointed Deputy Minister for Public Administration ( Vice-Ministra da Administração Estatal ). In the Nyusi cabinet , she was promoted to senior minister in the same department.

During her ministerial time, Namashulua is particularly concerned with the complete establishment of state institutions throughout the country and, in parallel, with decentralization tendencies.

Private

Carmelita Namashulua is married with three children and is a believer in the Christian faith. In addition to Portuguese, she speaks ChiMakonde , Swahili and English .
