The University of Education ( Portuguese Universidade Pedagógica , abbreviated UP) is the second largest university in Mozambique after the Eduardo Mondlane University . The UP focuses on teacher training .

Founded in 1986 as a secondary educational institution, it received university status in 1995. The university's headquarters are in Maputo . The UP is divided into various faculties (Faculdades) and has branches (Delegações) throughout the country. There are collaborations with the following German universities: Heidelberg University of Education , Dresden University of Technology , Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg . At the UP there has been a specialist editing department of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) since 2009 .
