Carola Rosenberg-Blume (born June 6, 1899 in Neudenau ; † August 18, 1987 in Redlands , California ) was the founder and director of an institution for women's education at the Stuttgart Adult Education Center.
Life
Carola Rosenberg-Blume studied German, philosophy and psychology. In 1924 she came to Stuttgart and built up the women's department at the VHS Stuttgart. She did a pioneering work in women's education . It was her particular concern to win over factory workers for the adult education center. To do this, she went to the factories and offered courses to the women there. Nevertheless, in 1933 she was dismissed without notice because of her Jewish descent. In 1936 she emigrated to the USA with her (non-Jewish) husband, the writer Bernhard Blume , and their two sons .
The Stuttgart Women's Academy was named after her in 1999 and was given the name Carola-Blume-Akademie.
