Carola Saavedra (* 1973 in Santiago de Chile ) is a Brazilian writer .

Life

Carola Saavedra was born in Chile and came to Brazil at the age of three. She studied journalism at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro. Saavedra lived in Spain for one year, one in France and eight years in Germany, where she completed a master's degree in journalism. Today she lives in Rio de Janeiro.

She published a book of short stories as well as short stories in various anthologies. In 2010 Carola Saavedra was invited to the Festa Literária Internacional de Paraty , the International Literature Festival in Paraty ("Flip"). Her book Flores azuis (Blue Flowers, 2008) won the Best Novel Award from the Associação Paulista dos Críticos de Arte (2008), the Copa de Literatura Brasileira, and was among the finalists for the São Paulo de Literatura and Awards Jabuti . Her last novel, Paisagem com dromedário (Landscape with Dromedary, 2010), received the “Rachel de Queiroz” award in the Young Authors category. It was published in March 2013 in a translation by Maria Hummitzsch by CH Beck.
