Caroline Islands Air ( CIA ; until 1997 Caroline Pacific Air ) is the state and only active airline of the Federated States of Micronesia .
The CIA home base was relocated from Pohnpei International Airport to Yap International Airport in May 2020 .
history
The airline was founded in 1995 under the name Caroline Pacific Air by Brian Caldwell and started operations with two old Beechcraft E18S ( registration numbers : V6-CAA and V6-CAB) that were built in the mid-1950s. In 1997 the company, which at that time only owned one of these aircraft, was given its current name Caroline Islands Air . In the following year, the remaining Beechcraft E18S was replaced by a Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander . The company's second BN-2 Islander took over in April 2001, followed by a Beechcraft 65 Queen Air in August 2002.
Caroline Islands Air does not have an ICAO or IATA code , but has an important position in the supply of the various islands.
Charter flights have been offered domestically since 1995 . The start of international flights to Koror on Palau is planned (as of January 2018). Caroline Islands Air uses Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander and Hawker Beechcraft aircraft and took over a brand-new Chinese Harbin Y-12 in November 2017 .
