Carré (unit)

The Carré , also Quarré , was a square measure on Trinidad , Martinique , St. Lucia and various French West Indies . Differences in the dimensions at the various places in the decimal places are negligibly small. Ten thousand paces (pas carrés) were the measure.

  • 1 square = 18526 ¼ square - varas = 129.17 ares
  • Martinique : 1 square = 122.5 Parisian feet (old) = 129.26 ares

The square was also widespread as a field measure in French India .

  • 1 carré = 3 vélys = 60 mas / canis = 6000 cougis
