The Carrier Corporation , based in Farmington (Connecticut), is one of the world's largest manufacturers of refrigeration systems of all kinds. From 1979 to 2020, the company was part of the UTC group. The business area includes stationary air conditioners for the private and commercial sector, as well as cooling and air conditioning technology for the vehicle and food sector. Today Carrier has over 53,000 employees in more than 160 countries. The headquarters of the German branch of the air conditioning division is in Ismaning and the German branch of the refrigeration division is in Cologne-Sürth.

history

It was founded in 1902 by Willis Carrier , who invented the first modern air conditioning system , and expanded to Japan with the first products as early as 1907 .

1957 one acquired the Elliott Company , which was until then in family ownership.

In 2004 Carrier took over the refrigeration technology division of Linde AG , but two years later stopped manufacturing Linde refrigerators in Germany and relocated production to the Czech Republic and France .

Until April 2010, the Carrier Corporation was the owner of SÜTRAK, a manufacturer of mobile air conditioning systems for trucks and buses based in Renningen . On April 1, 2010 it was announced that the subsidiary SÜTRAK will be taken over by Eberspächer .

In 2014, Carrier renewed the air conditioning and heating in the Sistine Chapel . In April 2018, UTC announced that it would split into three companies, with the Otis Elevator Company as well as Carrier to become independent. In April 2020, Carrier spun off from UTC after 41 years and has been trading on the New York Stock Exchange ever since .
