Carsten Brauckmann

Carsten Brauckmann (* 1947 ) is a German paleontologist. He is a professor at the TU Clausthal .

Life

After studying geology and palaeontology and graduating from the Technical University of Hanover in 1970 (the crenistria zone and the deeper striatus zone ( goniatites stage, lower carbon) of Lautenthal (northwestern Upper Harz)), he joined the Free University of Berlin in 1973 PhD (Kulm trilobites from Aprath (Bergisches Land)). Until 1975 he worked on the research project Mesozoic Mammals in Portugal at the Free University of Berlin and until 1977 he taught at the University of Marburg. From 1978 he was deputy director at the Fuhlrott Museum in Wuppertal.

Research priorities

He deals with fossil insects and spiders from the Paleozoic (especially Carboniferous, Devonian), trilobites from the Upper Paleozoic , insects from the Mesozoic (especially Triassic ), fossil turtles and crocodiles (Chalk, Upper Jurassic of Northern Germany) and generally with the settlement of the mainland in the Paleozoic .
