Carsten Knobel

Carsten Knobel (born January 11, 1969 in Marburg ) is a German manager . He has been CEO of Henkel since January 2020 . Carsten Knobel had previously been a member of the Executive Board since 2012, responsible for finance, purchasing and the Integrated Business Solutions division.

Career

Knobel studied business administration and technical chemistry at the TU Berlin . Since 2010 Carsten Knobel has been an alumnus of Harvard Business School , where he completed the Executive Education Program.

Carsten Knobel started at Henkel in 1995 as an assistant to the management board, responsible for research and development. In 1998 Knobel took over the management of the international marketing controlling of the strategic business unit hair, cosmetics and body care. From 2000 to 2002, Carsten Knobel was also director of regional controlling for the cosmetics business in North America, Latin America and Asia. Afterwards he was responsible for the Schwarzkopf brand Taft and other parts of the strategic business unit Hair, Cosmetics / Toiletries. In 2004 Knobel took up his position as Director Business Development for Cosmetics / Toiletries and worked on the financial integration of the US cosmetics brand Dial . From 2006 to 2008, Knobel was Corporate Vice President responsible for corporate strategy and corporate controlling at Henkel. In 2009, he was promoted to Corporate Senior Vice President and also took on the role of Finance Director for the Cosmetics and Toiletries business sector. In July 2012 he was appointed Chief Financial Officer ( CFO ) to the Executive Board by the then Henkel boss Kasper Rorsted , where he was also responsible for purchasing. At the age of 43, Casten Knobel was one of the youngest board members of the DAX30 groups . As a member of the Executive Board, responsible for finance (CFO) and purchasing, he brought the Shared Service Center (SSC) and the IT functions of Henkel together to form a joint organization, the so-called Integrated Business Solutions (IBS). At the end of 2018, Knobel launched a green credit line with a total volume of 1.5 billion euros at Henkel as the first German company. In April 2019, this innovative and sustainable financing method received the Corporate Finance Award from the Börsen-Zeitung. In October 2019, Carsten Knobel was appointed to succeed Hans Van Bylen as CEO of Henkel. He took office on January 1, 2020. He has set himself the goal of further developing Henkel and making the company "fit for the future". In order to concentrate on the chairmanship of the executive board at Henkel, Carsten Knobel resigned from his position as deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Bundesliga club Fortuna Düsseldorf at the end of 2019 . He is still a member of the Lufthansa Supervisory Board.
